Inspiration

Important documents often contain information that requires action: bills need to be paid, deadlines need to be remembered, and obligations need to be followed up.

Traditional document AI is very good at answering questions and summarizing documents, but knowing what a document says is only part of the problem.

I wanted to build something that focuses on the next step.

That idea became ACTIONOS AI — Turn documents into actions.

What it does

ACTIONOS AI analyzes important documents and converts actionable information into structured tasks.

The current application demonstrates a complete PDF-to-action workflow:

Upload → Understand → Extract → Prioritize → Act

For example, when an electricity bill is uploaded, ACTIONOS AI can identify the required payment, extract the amount and due date, and assign a priority.

In our working example, the system identified:

  • Action: Pay bill
  • Amount: ₹2,450
  • Due date: 2026-09-25
  • Priority: HIGH

The extracted action can then be added to the user's Actions workspace.

How we built it

The mobile application was built with Expo, React Native and TypeScript.

The backend uses Node.js and Express.js to process uploaded documents. PDF content is extracted and passed through a structured action-extraction layer that identifies actionable information such as amounts, dates, categories and priorities.

The application is designed around a simple principle:

Don't just tell the user what's inside a document. Help them understand what needs to happen next.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges was making document processing reliable enough to produce structured actions instead of only returning raw document text.

PDFs can contain inconsistent formatting and extracted text can contain unexpected characters. We therefore had to make the extraction logic tolerant of formatting variations while still producing consistent action data.

Another challenge was building a reliable mobile file-upload flow for PDF documents. We implemented native file selection and a backend processing flow so that the selected document could be analyzed and returned as structured action information.

What we learned

Building ACTIONOS AI taught us that useful document intelligence is not only about retrieval or summarization.

The real value can come from connecting information to an actionable outcome.

A document can tell you:

"Your bill is ₹2,450 and the due date is September 25."

ACTIONOS AI aims to turn that information into:

"Pay bill — ₹2,450 — HIGH priority."

That document-to-action transition is the core idea behind ACTIONOS AI.

What's next

The product is designed to evolve toward richer reminders, advanced document intelligence, RAG-based document conversations, and subscription-powered productivity features.

The long-term vision is to create a personal action layer for the important documents people receive every day.
