Project Story: Actionify – AI for Social Impact Meetings

Inspiration

Meetings are essential, but in many organizations — from schools to nonprofits to healthcare teams — critical insights and action items are often lost. Miscommunication slows progress, reduces accountability, and wastes valuable time. The inspiration behind Actionify is to make meetings more transparent, actionable, and inclusive, ensuring that every voice is heard and every decision is captured. By turning raw discussions into structured insights, we empower communities, teams, and organizations to operate more effectively and ethically.

What it does

Actionify is an AI-powered web application that transforms meeting recordings or transcripts into actionable insights for social good:

• Media Upload: Easily upload audio/video recordings or paste text.
• AI Transcription: Accurately transcribes speech with speaker identification using Whisper (or AssemblyAI).
• Actionable Summaries: Extracts key discussion points, decisions, and action items, making follow-ups clear.
• Sentiment Analysis: Highlights emotional tone to help leaders monitor team engagement, stress, or morale.
• Interactive Dashboard: View transcripts, summaries, and tasks in a clean, accessible interface.
• Export & Integration: Download reports in PDF, Markdown, or CSV, or push tasks to Trello/Slack for collaborative tracking.

How we built it

• Frontend: React + TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vite, Lucide Icons, Recharts, React Router DOM, React Hot Toast.
• Backend / AI Integrations: Whisper/AssemblyAI for transcription, OpenRouter LLMs for summaries and sentiment, Cloudinary for media storage, jsPDF for report export.

What we learned

• Designing a tool that bridges technology and social good.
• Prompt engineering for actionable insights using AI.
• Making complex AI tools accessible and user-friendly for diverse communities.

Next Steps

• Integrate with Zoom/Google Meet for real-time meeting analysis.
• Add collaboration features for teams, including assigning tasks and tracking completion.
• Expand multilingual support for global communities.
