Inspiration: I was inspired by customer experience dashboards created at the VA Veterans Experience Office. The way in which data is presented and is accessible has huge impact to how useful it can be.
What it does: The report card should relay comprehensive information in a way that is understandable, insightful, and action-oriented.
How I built it: I sketched out ideas and did the rough prototype using only Powerpoint!
Challenges I ran into: As I started to experiment with ideas, I started to recognize just how many potential ways the data could be presented and how exciting a deeper dive could be. My biggest challenge was not enough time!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Was fun to timebox myself to see what I could come up with in a short amount of time.
What I learned: Ideas that have weight can't be done in a vacuum. It's important to bounce ideas of of others and to include experts where you don't have the skillset.
What's next for Action-Oriented Report Card: Recruit UX designers and data scientists to prototype further, and then GET IN FRONT OF USERS. Designers can come up with beautiful creations, but until users verify that there is benefit in the creation, it means nothing.
