Inspiration
The inspiration behind this game were science fiction clones and mad scientist stories combined to make a story of a mad scientist trying to make dinosaur clones to take over the world.
What it does
In this game you're an assuming individual caught up in the evil masterplan of the mad scientist Professor Wasbob Dinglejerry, and he wants to take over the world with velociraptor clones! However, these clones have tiny mutations that could potentially ruin the clones or cause unforeseen problems, so you're newfound job is to help him identify these errors and patch them up!
How we built it
We utilized Java in order to create the game itself, HTML, CSS, and JS in order to create a website for the game, and Scratch for the art utilized in many parts of the game. The website also discusses real-world impacts of cloning.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints and bugs in the program caused our project to come out as less satisfactory quality than we initially wanted to achieve.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud of the level of creativity and imagination we were able to attain with this project and we feel that it shows in what we have of the project.
What we learned
We learned the basics of Github and how Hackathons operate, which could lead to a more successful project in future Hackathons.
What's next for Mutation Maniacs
We could improve the visuals and overall quality of the game and fix up parts of the game that could been better if we had more time. We would have also likely added more mechanics and made the overall game more interesting.
