AceUp — Project Overview
AceUp was born from a simple problem: system design interviews are slow, expensive, and subjective. We wanted a better way to fairly assess how engineers think at scale.
AceUp is an automated system design interview platform. An AI interviewer interacts with candidates in real time, reacts to their design diagram, and asks smart follow-up questions about decisions and trade-offs. A light proctoring layer ensures interview integrity.
After the session, the design and conversation are evaluated across scalability, reliability, availability, communication, and reasoning—giving companies clear, consistent results.
We built AceUp using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Supabase, with real-time streaming between the design canvas and the AI agent. One of the biggest challenges was making everything sync smoothly and keeping proctoring fast without hurting the user experience.
Our biggest win was seeing the full pipeline work end-to-end: live interview, AI interaction, and automated grading.
Next, we plan to expand AceUp with AI-led coding and behavioral interviews, practice mode, and advanced hiring dashboards—moving closer to fully automated technical interviewing.
