Inspiration
Our inspiration was the technological advancement available during childhood seen between different generations, the need for education outside the brick-and-mortar school and the passion to help kids come up with their own ideas and experiment with them.
What it does
This app is to help kids understand what STEM is and how useful it can be. It is to help them develop meaningful skills and have fun at the same time, productive learning.
How we built it
We used Figma for the demonstration and Java to write the backend.
Challenges we ran into
It was hard to think of ways to make an educational experience fun and motivating for a middle schooler because it had been so long since any of us were in middle school. Initially, we also had an issue of picking what code to use because our team members don't all use just 1 code. We eventually decided on a combination of pseudocode and what the majority of us could use which is Java.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have built features that will be a good learning experience for children such as using specific colors, fonts, and practice methods. We believe that the combination of these features will attribute to a less stressful learning environment for children aged 10 - 12.
What we learned
We learned how important brainstorming is to the overall process and how there are times when our team needs to compromise on ideas. We also learned that how to utilize each of our best qualities to expedite the progress of creating and completing this project.
What's next for Ace+
In the future, we plan on having collaborative projects and hybrid summer camps so that the children will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers in a subject they are passionate about.
