Inspiration

The inspiration behind Ace It came from the everyday chaos that students face while juggling classes, part-time jobs, personal tasks, and even hobbies. Being students ourselves, we realized how overwhelming it can be to manage everything. We wanted to build a tool that simplifies life for students, helping them ace their schedules while keeping everything organized, so they can focus on what really matters—studying, working, and enjoying life!

What it does

Ace It is a smart scheduler designed specifically for students, helping them manage their academic classes, part-time job shifts, personal chores, and hobbies all in one place. The app provides a visually engaging calendar, sends reminders, and allows students to track deadlines with ease. With Ace It, you can balance everything from calling your parents to cramming for that last-minute assignment without breaking a sweat.

How we built it

We built Ace It using React.js for the front end, making it dynamic and interactive. The design uses Tailwind CSS to ensure it’s responsive and visually appealing. We integrated Google Cloud for backend support, which allows us to sync user data and provide a seamless experience across devices. The project is version-controlled with Git and deployed on Vercel for easy access.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced was creating a balance between functionality and simplicity. We wanted to include all the necessary features students need, but without overwhelming them with too many options. Building the swipe feature for tasks and events was tricky as we had to ensure it worked smoothly on both desktop and mobile. Another challenge was making the design intuitive, ensuring students could navigate easily without getting confused

What we learned

We’re really proud of how user-friendly the app turned out to be. The swipe feature for navigating between tasks and events, the sleek design, and the ease of organizing a chaotic schedule into something simple and manageable are major wins for us. Also, the dynamic reminder system that ensures students never miss a task or class is something we’re proud to have implemented successfully. Seeing the app help organize someone’s day gives us real satisfaction!

What's next for Ace-It

The next step for Ace It is to integrate more personalized features, such as AI-driven scheduling that adapts to individual students’ habits and preferences. We also plan to include integration with university systems for direct class schedule imports, and even add features like group project management. Expanding Ace It’s user base and making it a must-have app for students worldwide is definitely on the horizon.
