When translating between two languages, there are usually words used for food/religion/people that are specific for a culture. We wanted to build an app that also explains what these words mean while translating.
It takes voice input of one language and plays an audio file of the translated text. It also displays a textbox with definitions for the cultural words that were used in the input.
We used next and python in the backend.
Detecting cultural words was the most difficult part.
We are proud that we actually got a working app.
Nearly all of us were first time hackers, so we learned a lot of new libraries, and web development in general.
Even though the project works, we couldn't find the time to fix some bugs. We will look into that later.
