🎉 Accsensible: Making the web more accessible for everyone 🎉

💡 Inspiration 💡

We were inspired to create Accsensible for the "Support-a-thon" hackathon by MLH, which focuses on bridging the gap for those with a variety of abilities and promoting the importance of creating accessible technology. As avid supporters of accessibility, we wanted to contribute to this important cause by creating a tool that makes it easy to identify and address accessibility issues on the web. What it does

Accsensible is a tool that takes a URL as input and generates a report of any accessibility issues it finds on the website. This includes things like missing alt text for images, insufficient color contrast, and more. By identifying these issues, website owners and developers can make the necessary changes to ensure that their site is accessible to all users.

🌟 Why it matters 🌟

Accessibility is an important consideration for everyone, but it is especially important for those with disabilities. By ensuring that our technology is accessible, we can create a more inclusive and user-friendly experience for all. Accsensible is our way of promoting the importance of accessibility and making it easy for anyone to improve the accessibility of their website.

🛠️ How we built it 🛠️

We built Accsensible using NextJS, React, and the Mantine UI Library. We used the webhint library to test the accessibility of websites, which uses the aXe library under the hood. Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced while building Accsensible was figuring out how to effectively analyze and report on the accessibility of websites. There are many different factors to consider when it comes to accessibility, and it can be difficult to know where to start. However, by doing thorough research and experimenting with different tools and techniques, we were able to come up with a solution that we feel is both effective and user-friendly.

💫 Accomplishments that we're proud of 💫

We are proud of the fact that we were able to create a tool that is not only functional, but also easy to use. We want Accsensible to be a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve the accessibility of their website, and we believe that we have succeeded in creating a tool that is both useful and intuitive.

🧠 What we learned 🧠

Working on Accsensible was a great learning experience for us. We gained a deeper understanding of the importance of accessibility in technology and how to effectively analyze and improve the accessibility of websites. We also learned a lot about the tools and techniques available for testing and improving accessibility.

⌚ What's next for Accsensible ⌚

We plan to continue developing and improving Accsensible in the future. We hope to add additional features and functionality, and we welcome any feedback or suggestions from users. Ultimately, our goal is to make Accsensible the go-to tool for anyone looking to make the web more accessible for all.
