Inspiration
The inspiration for ACCquire stemmed from the common challenges individuals, including myself, face in reaching their goals. Drawing from the advice of many, my idea focusses on the effectiveness of affirmations, visual boards, and finding out goals using manageable steps. ACCquire's purpose is not just to create another goal-setting platform but to address the specific pain points that hinder goal attainment. As its name states, it's an app designed to actually (acc) acquire one's goals.
What it does
ACCquire employs a multi-faceted approach. After signing in, users reach an empty home screen that will soon display customized vision boards. Users can start by inputting their goals, to which the ACCquire generates personalized affirmations tailored to boost motivation and confidence. The step-by-step quiz guides users through breaking down their goals into achievable tasks, ensuring a practical and realistic path to success. The user's goals are stored in a list from where they can add other options and check their goals off when completed. The visual board feature, another personalized element, allows users to create a visually compelling representation of their aspirations and enhance the emotional connection to their goals.
How we built it
Given my limited experience in app development, I opted for Adalo, an app builder, to bring ACCquire to life. Using Adalo's interface, I pieced together the different elements of the app. The platform allowed for the creation of a dynamic user interface, incorporating features like goal input, affirmation generation, and the step-by-step quiz. While this choice might reduce the technical complexity, it helped me navigate the complexities of app development efficiently.
Challenges we ran into
Developing ACCquire was a learning experience in effective time management, particularly during the initial planning stages. Confronting obstacles revealed the complexities of creating a functional app, emphasizing the importance of a well-thought-out plan. It also showed me the necessity of continuous learning, especially as I realized that what I knew before seemed straightforward compared to building a fully functional app with algorithms. The components I initially considered easy turned out to be more challenging than anticipated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the interface of ACCquire, which strives to be both presentable and professional. It stands as a source of satisfaction, particularly because I feel most confident in my design skills compared to other aspects of app development. The primary goal has consistently been to offer users a positive and enjoyable interaction, and the interface is a true reflection of the sincere effort invested to accomplish this objective.
What we learned
Creating ACCquire turned out to be quite a learning journey, particularly in the final stages where managing time effectively became crucial. Confronting challenges during this phase unveiled the intricacies of crafting a fully functional app, which made me learn the importance of having a well-thought-out strategy. Even though I initially thought the concept was straightforward, integrating and making it fully functional proved to be more challenging than expected.
What's next for ACCquire
Moving forward, the focus for ACCquire involves addressing its current limitations. Incorporating AI functionalities remains a priority, with plans to enhance the quiz for more dynamic responses. The goal is to transform ACCquire into a more intelligent and personalized tool for goal attainment. I also want to involve a deeper exploration of AI capabilities and potential partnerships to enhance the app's functionality. The aim is not only to overcome the current challenges but to elevate ACCquire into a more fulfilling platform for users on their journey to achieving their goals.
