Inspiration

As we were trying to come up with a project for this hackathon, we tried to create a simple game. After creating our game, there were no creative names for it. Then, Acclaim Name was born. We ended up using the application to generate our name.

What it does

Acclaim Name is an in-browser tool that generates synonyms & rhymes. All you have to do is enter some words that describe your project and catchy phrases are generated!

How I built it

This is a single-page web application. There is an html file with the base of the page, which is styles with css. Additionally, a javascript file is used to make API calls to various resources to retrieve synonyms, rhymes & definitions. Our logo was created in processing.js by layering different strings all around the canvas in different colors.

Challenges I ran into

Some challenges were finding decent APIs that would provide good synonyms, rhymes & definitions. Another challenge was coming up with a logo that communicated what the app was, without being too overwhelming.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We're proud of creating a useful tool that will help us create names for school projects, businesses & other web applications in the future. We are also proud that we formulated and committed to the idea and created the beginning stage of a functional application.
