Inspiration
Road accidents become more fatal when people don't get proper medical attention and primary care. This could be resolved if the loved ones of the person get notified about the accident and could send emergency services to the location of the accident.
What it does
This device will detect when a two-wheeler meets with an accident, alert one specific number through a call, and send messages to every number saved by the user asking for help with the GPS coordinates. The device could also monitor the driving of the person using the vehicle in which the device is integrated and could understand the driving patterns of the person and thus prevent accident occurrences.
How we built
The device consists of hardware that is to be connected to the bike which consists of many sensors and microcontrollers to get the required data for accident detection and driving monitoring. A mobile application is also made to establish the connection with the device and to send the alert message. Rash driving detection using ML is a work in progress.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges we faced during the development were getting the proper reading from the sensors and testing the device in a motorbike for formulating accident detection and driving monitoring. We also faced difficulty in concurrent retrieval of the data from multiple sensors and faced hardship in implementing multithreading to avoid race conditions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to make the device and test it on the road and get the alert when the device met the conditions of the accident.
What we learned
We learned more about sensors, microcontrollers their usage, and applications.
What's next for Accident Alert and Rash Driving Detection using ML
If the device is integrated with every bike then accidents and their worst outcomes could be minimized by providing immediate medical attention detecting the rash driving patterns and avoiding such circumstances. The device will be more helpful for delivery service companies.
