AccessPilot AI Inspiration Digital accessibility is often overlooked during software development, leaving millions of people with disabilities unable to effectively use websites and web applications. While accessibility testing tools exist, they typically generate complex technical reports that are difficult for non-experts to understand and rarely provide actionable fixes.
We wanted to build an AI-powered solution that not only detects accessibility issues but also explains them in plain English, generates implementation-ready fixes, and helps developers create more inclusive digital experiences.
What it does AccessPilot AI is an AI-powered accessibility auditing platform that automatically analyzes websites for accessibility compliance.
The platform:
Crawls a target website using Playwright.
Scans pages using axe-core.
Detects WCAG accessibility violations.
Uses AI to explain each issue in simple language.
Generates developer-friendly code fixes.
Simulates the impact on users with different disabilities.
Calculates an accessibility score.
Generates a professional PDF accessibility report.
Provides a modern dashboard for project and audit management.
Instead of simply listing violations, AccessPilot AI helps developers understand why the issue matters and how to fix it.
How we built it The project follows a modular AI-driven architecture.
Backend FastAPI
SQLAlchemy (Async)
PostgreSQL
Playwright
axe-core
Groq LLM API
ReportLab
Docker
Frontend React
TypeScript
Vite
Tailwind CSS
TanStack Query
Axios
Workflow User creates a project.
User submits a website URL.
Background audit pipeline starts.
Playwright crawls the website.
axe-core performs accessibility scanning.
Violations are stored in PostgreSQL.
Groq AI generates:
Plain-English explanations
Business impact
Accessibility impact
Recommended fixes
Accessibility score is calculated.
PDF report is generated.
Results are displayed in the dashboard.
UiPath Test Cloud Integration To align with the UiPath Test Cloud track, AccessPilot AI is designed to complement enterprise testing workflows.
The accessibility audit pipeline can be integrated into automated testing pipelines, enabling accessibility validation as part of continuous testing. This allows organizations to identify accessibility issues earlier in the software lifecycle and include accessibility as a quality gate alongside functional and regression testing.
Challenges we ran into During development we encountered several real-world engineering challenges:
Designing a scalable asynchronous audit pipeline.
Running Playwright browsers reliably inside Docker containers.
Configuring PostgreSQL with asynchronous SQLAlchemy.
Deploying browser automation on Render.
Resolving Playwright runtime dependencies for Linux containers.
Fixing bcrypt and Passlib compatibility issues during authentication.
Managing API rate limits from the Groq AI service.
Optimizing memory usage when scanning large websites.
Generating professional enterprise-grade PDF reports.
Each challenge helped improve the architecture and deployment readiness of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully built a complete end-to-end accessibility auditing platform.
Automated crawling, accessibility scanning, AI explanation, fix generation, and report creation.
Produced enterprise-quality PDF accessibility reports.
Created an intuitive dashboard for managing projects and audits.
Successfully deployed the backend on Render and frontend on Vercel.
Built a production-ready Dockerized application.
Delivered an AI-powered accessibility solution that makes accessibility reports understandable for both developers and non-technical stakeholders.
What we learned This project significantly deepened our understanding of:
AI-assisted software engineering
Web accessibility and WCAG standards
Browser automation using Playwright
FastAPI asynchronous architecture
Docker containerization
Cloud deployment
PostgreSQL and asynchronous database programming
Modern React application development
Production debugging and DevOps practices
Most importantly, we learned that accessibility is not only a compliance requirement—it is a critical part of creating inclusive digital experiences.
What's next for AccessPilot AI We plan to expand AccessPilot AI with:
Deeper UiPath Test Cloud integration
Automated accessibility regression testing
CI/CD pipeline integrations
AI-powered accessibility remediation suggestions
Accessibility trend analytics
Team collaboration features
Historical audit comparisons
Multi-language accessibility reporting
Enterprise SSO and role-based access control
Our vision is to make accessibility testing an integrated part of every software development lifecycle.
