Inspiration

💡 Me and my wife live with disabilities. We are always on the lookout for accessible places to visit but finding accessible places are very hard. Several times we have visited a place which says it has a wheelchair ramp access in google maps only to find that they have a step inside.

What it does

AccessPath has community curated accessible places like shopping center, cafe, museum, recreational places etc. Places can be filtered according to different disabilities like mobility, visual, hearing and cognitive.

Advanced filters like wheelchair access♿, braille signage⠃⠗⠁⠊⠇⠇⠑, audio descriptions🎧 etc. can help further to find places to visit for those with special needs.

Accessible places can be added easily by searching and each place can be marked for the accessibility features they offer for specific disabilities.

How we built it

AccessPath was built 100% using ⚡Bolt!

Prompt

First prompt was based on the comment by my wife on the problem validation platform needgap -

Standard websites that give general information about disability e.g. just having a wheelchair sign, are not always useful to the disabled because disability is different for each person and requires customised solutions. For instance, finding hotels with truly disabled friendly bathrooms is a big challenge. Having websites that provide pictures or videos of disabled facilities / other ways of accessing information about the hotel facilities are essential so that people with disabilities can make their own assessment as to whether the facilities are accessible for them.

Bolt understood the solution statement and created a layout for a web app called AccessPath with dummy data for places with its accessibility features.

Challenges we ran into

History is limited, I couldn't revert back the project to its very early state when I messed up and so I had to start again by asking Bolt to rebuild the project from scratch.
Some elements like YouTube playback doesn't seem to be working inside bolt preview, but works in the deployed application.
There were ocassional AI provider overload, and so I had to try again after some time.
