Inspiration

There are many people looking for accessible beauty products, but they find that information is not widely available. Even when products are designed to be accessible, many beauty brands don’t focus on promoting accessibility features. Many of the members in our group know how empowering makeup can be in helping one feel beautiful and confident, we wanted to design a solution to help empower those with disabilities as well.

What it does

It is a mobile app that connects people with disabilities with accessible beauty products and brands through a two sided platform model. It gives consumers a one-stop-shop to shop highly personalized products catered to their beauty struggles and accessibility needs while providing accessible beauty companies a platform to reach their target markets.

How we built it

We build our mock up for our app through Figma.

Challenges we ran into

Empathizing with the different struggles that those will disabilities face when shopping for and applying beauty products was hard for the members of the team as we did not face these problems ourselves. We had to conduct primary research through interviews and secondary research online.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of building the mock up from scratch and creating a strong value proposition for both consumers and retailers of accessible beauty products. We believe that our solution helps tackle the challenge of accessible beauty and we are proud to be part of building a more accessible world.

What we learned

We learned a lot about using Figma and creating a business model that would provide value to various stakeholders. We also learned a lot about empathizing with our target users and their major pain points to develop our solution.

What's next for AccessiBeauty

The next steps for AccessiBeauty would be to build the actual app technically. We are looking into the React Native framework and using Javascript to code the backend.
