Inspiration

We noticed how difficult it is for people with disabilities to find and join safe, inclusive, and community-driven events. Most mainstream platforms don't highlight accessibility features, making it hard to know which events are suitable. We wanted to create a space where disabled individuals can easily discover meetups tailored for them, built with inclusion from the ground up.

What it does

AccessEvents is a community meetup platform designed specifically for people with disabilities. Users can: Discover nearby or online events that are accessibility-friendly Connect with others in the community through interest-based meetups Create and host their own inclusive events easily

How we built it

Bolt.new to rapidly prototype the app

Challenges we ran into

Balancing minimalism with accessibility in the UI Understanding real accessibility needs beyond what's typically documented online

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a product that can genuinely improve inclusion and belonging for disabled people

What we learned

Building inclusive tools requires empathy, not just design skills

What's next for AccessEvents

Adding community features: RSVP, comments, and organizer messaging
