Inspiration
Accessibility is often considered too late in media production. We wanted to create a tool that helps filmmakers identify accessibility issues from the beginning, rather than treating accessibility as a final checklist.
What it does
AccessScreen is an AI-powered accessibility production agent. It analyzes scripts, identifies potential accessibility concerns, researches recommendations, creates production tasks, and generates an accessibility readiness report.
How we built it
We built AccessScreen using Gemini and Google Cloud with a multi-step agent workflow: Script Analysis → Research → Production Planning → QA. The results are organized in a simple dashboard so production teams can easily understand and act on them.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was making AccessScreen genuinely agentic rather than just a chatbot. We broke the workflow into specialized agents and designed structured outputs that could be passed between each stage.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of turning accessibility analysis into an actionable production workflow. Instead of simply identifying problems, AccessScreen helps users understand what they can do next.
What we learned
We learned that effective agentic AI is about designing a strong workflow, not just giving AI more capabilities. Breaking complex tasks into specialized steps made our system more useful and reliable.
What's next for AccessScreen
We want to expand AccessScreen to support filming locations, captions, audio descriptions, production schedules, and post-production accessibility QA—making accessibility part of the entire media production lifecycle.
