The word Ihsan means excellence, sincerity, and doing things with care. We created Académie Ihsan to help Muslim families in Quebec access a modern secondary education experience that respects both academic goals and Islamic identity.
Many families need to navigate homeschooling, provincial education requirements, admissions, tutoring, and learning resources across different platforms. We wanted to bring these pieces together in one welcoming and organized space.
What It Does
Académie Ihsan is a bilingual French-English platform for a Muslim secondary homeschool network.
Families can explore programs, schedules, pricing, admissions, tutoring, DEM guidance, and student portfolios. The platform also includes dedicated demo portals for students, parents, teachers, administrators, and staff.
Students can access course content and learning resources, while teachers can publish educational notes and external resources. Admissions applications and learning resources are connected to a database so the experience is more than a static website.
How We Built It
We built the application with React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Express, PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM, OpenAPI, Zod, and React Query.
The API contract serves as the source of truth for validation and typed communication between the frontend and backend. We also designed responsive layouts so the platform works across desktop and mobile devices.
Challenges We Faced
One challenge was creating an interface that felt modern and welcoming while remaining respectful of the community it serves. Another was combining public information pages with different role-based portal experiences in one application.
We also had to make the platform bilingual and organize complex education-related information in a way that families could understand quickly.
What We Learned
We learned that a successful education platform needs to support the whole family, not only the student. We also learned that meaningful localization involves more than translating words—it requires understanding the culture, priorities, and real needs of the community.
Most importantly, we learned that technology can help families pursue academic excellence without disconnecting from their faith and identity.
What's Next
Future improvements could include full user authentication, stronger role-based permissions, secure file uploads, real-time messaging, payments, and expanded course content.
Académie Ihsan is our first step toward a connected, faith-conscious education network where students can grow in knowledge, character, and faith.
