AcadaLens was inspired by the educational challenges faced by millions of students across Africa that causes poor academic performances. This issue of poor academic performance stems from limited access to quality exam preparation, difficulty finding verified student housing and logistics support, and the lack of learning resources in indigenous languages. We wanted to build a platform that not only addresses these gaps but also leverages AI to make learning more personalized and accessible.

Throughout the development of AcadaLens, we learned a lot about integrating AI tools for adaptive learning with support for offline usage, natural language processing for indigenous languages, and building a reliable database for verified hostel listings and logistics support. Our tech stack includes AI Backend: Langchain, Gemini API (Gemini 2.5 Flash), ChromaDB, Web Frontend: React, Typescript, Tailwind CSS, Axios ,Backend: NodeJS, ExpressJS, Postgress and various AI APIs that power exam prep and language support features.

One of the key challenges was creating a seamless experience that combines multiple services which are exam preparation and learning with support for offline usage, accommodation and logistics support, and language learning, into one unified platform. We also faced difficulties in gathering verified data for hostels and logistics support and designing AI models that effectively understand and teach indigenous languages, which often have limited digital resources.

Despite these hurdles, we focused on user-centered design and iterative development, continuously refining our platform based on user feedback. AcadaLens aims to empower students with practical tools for education and everyday student life, making learning not just accessible but truly functional.
