Inspiration
The inspiration for Abyss came from the stark contrast between the ocean’s natural beauty and the devastating impact of pollution. I wanted to create a surreal visual journey that highlights both the fragility and resilience of marine life, turning environmental decay into a haunting yet rhythmic cinematic experience.
What it does
Abyss immerses viewers in a surreal underwater world where sea creatures navigate clouds of drifting plastic and attempt to clean the tides. Through AI-generated visuals and music, the film conveys the tension between beauty and decay, turning the ocean’s plight into a compelling, rhythmic story.
How we built it
This short film was created entirely by a single creator which is me using a range of AI tools: Firsty I wrote the lyrics Suno for music generation MidJourney for images, style, and character design Kling and Seedream for video creation Higgsfield and Pollo for additional AI-assisted visual effects, upscaling, etc, all video gen was made through higgs and Pollo Every frame, character, and visual element was generated and composed through these tools to achieve a cohesive and surreal narrative.
Challenges we ran into

Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud that Abyss successfully combines AI-generated music, visuals, and narrative into a cohesive short film created by a single person. It captures both the beauty and tragedy of our oceans in a visually striking, rhythmic experience.
What we learned
I learned how to orchestrate multiple AI tools in a creative pipeline, balancing style, motion, and audio to tell a compelling story. The project taught me the importance of iteration and experimentation in AI-driven filmmaking.
What's next for Abyss
The next step for Abyss is to refine the visuals and explore interactive or extended versions, potentially integrating more advanced AI animation techniques and expanding the narrative to include new environmental themes.
