Inspiration
We were inspired by the keynote speaker's presentation that talked about the feeling of imposter syndrome and lack of personal advocation that women fight in the workforce.
What it does
This program helps the user prepare for interviews by exposing them to common questions and helpful corresponding answers. Additionally, it provides positive statistics and quotes to encourage the user.
How we built it
We used tkinter, pndas, and BeautifulSoup in Python to make the framework for the project. Further implementation into website and mobile ports are planned.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out how we wanted to store and access questions was an issue because we wanted to implement them with the future in mind. We determined reading straight from a text file wasn't sustainable and that storing the questions into their own object was the way to go.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
None of us tried a project at a hackathon so we are very happy we were able to figure out a project and complete something in the time allotted.
What we learned
We all learned how to use Python a little better and better coding practices. Specifically, one of members, Hunter, tackled the front end using tkinter, which was an import he had never used before.
What's next for Crush That Interview
We want to implement more questions, question types, have facts pop up when questions are answered correctly, and liven up the dashboard with color and sound effects. There are also plans to implement the program on a website and on mobile devices. On top of all that, to add more question disciplines such as CS, rather than general interview questions.
