What it does
How I built it
Children living in vulnerable situations don't have access to the GSuite for education platform and applications and there’s a urgent need to improve tech literacy for parents, students and teachers.
gives access to technology and Internet to 100 children during Phase 1 of the project.
Our charity has also created a support team made up by volunteers who are giving assistance to teachers and students to enable them to connect to the Gsuite application for education, guiding them through the processes and organizing special sessions with them.
School closures and travel restrictions, although deemed necessary, disrupt children's routines and support systems, the possibility of social integration of children is stopped and will lead to serious long-term effects and the development of difficulties and situations. vulnerability, which can lead to the marginalization and social exclusion of these children who come from disadvantaged families without access to the Internet or technologies. The most vulnerable students are also those who suffer the most from the consequences of closing schools.
In just a few months, COVID-19 has drastically changed the lives of children around the world. Closing schools, disrupts the routine of children and support systems, leading to the marginalization and social exclusion of thousands of children from disadvantaged families who do not have access to the internet and to the technologies required for online school.
In response to this situation, regarding the situation of students from disadvantaged families in rural areas, the Aura Ion Association created the project ‚whose purpose is to provide access to education and frequent contact with teachers and friends of children in vulnerable situations, by distributing tablets connected to the Internet to a number of 100 children.
Main objectives:
· Training of the 22 teachers, the 100 family members and the 100 children
· We will support 100 children from vulnerable backgrounds, aged 10-14 and teachers with support on the communication side in the digital environment, reducing the risk of dropping out of school.
· Digital school: implementation of intelligent communication solutions in schools for a high-performance education that ensures the interconnection of students and teachers through telepresence so that students at home can participate simultaneously in the same lesson.
We will purchase tablets and sims, we will prepare training materials, we will send by courier, we will offer telephone assistance to teachers and students to get started in using tablets and connecting to online teaching platforms.
We want all young people and teachers to be confident with ‘computational thinking’, and aware of how technology and data are the foundations of today’s society, by giving them access to it. If we can achieve this, we believe that it will benefit both young people and our economy. We want to understanding how parents, teachers and young people really think, feel and act about tech concepts
Our plan is to equip 15 Romanian schools to champion tech literacy. We are analysing schools’ levels of connectivity to understand the barriers and challenges they face.
After the pandemic, the tablets will be handed over to the schools, in order to get grow their props, necessary to implement a project to digitize the learning process.
Supporting teachers better We’re funding workshops for more schools and primary school teachers this academic year.
