Inspiration
After a frustrating and exhaustive search for a rental this summer (we saw 18 apartments), I decided to take on a project where I could invent an app that would remove the broker from the situation, streamline the rental process and connect renters and landlords.
What it does
Abodeable allows the user to browse rentals, apply for a time slot appointment to see it, apply for the apartment directly via the app by uploading all essential financial documents and send them directly to the landlord. The landlord also does not have to lift a finger. On the landlord user side of the app, they can review potential renters, approve them for appointments, review their financials and have someone from the company show their apartment if they are unable.
How I built it
It isnt built, its only a personal UX project right now!
Challenges I ran into
The big challenges I ran into were the inevitable laziness of landlords, who might not be interested in using the app and just paying a broker. The ability to lure the landlord is the biggest challenge, bit I think that having the resource to show a property would help that. The other problem was making money, a small fee would be charged to apply for a rental on the tenant side as well as a small fee on the landlord side to show an apartment.
