ABC's of English

Inspiration

We have friends from around the world who want to learn English, and we wanted to make it easier for them to learn it. We know that some websites that teach English are hard to navigate and don't have their native language to learn from.

What it does

It provides accurate pronunciation of words and feedback on the way they say it using ElevenLabs. There are three levels, going from learning the alphabet to basic vocabulary words to making sentences.

How we built it

We used CodeSandBox to create an html website with some JavaScript to embed the Google Translate and ElevenLabs.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled with both finding a platform and embedding ElevenLabs into our code.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of figuring out how to embed ElevenLabs into our code and how the finished product looks.

What we learned

We learned that when encountering bugs in code, there are always resources that can help.

What's next for ABC's of English

We hope to turn it into an app with a sign-in and interactive games that will help learners retain the information.
