Inspiration
As a student, I often missed out on events like school fests, competitions, or local meetups just because I didn’t know they were happening. I noticed the same frustration among my friends. We live in a time where everything is at our fingertips, yet discovering events relevant to us still feels like luck. That’s what inspired Aayojan, a platform built for students to discover events tailored to their interests and vibe.
What it does
Aayojan is a platform where users can: Explore upcoming events by category (college fests, parties, meetups, etc.) Add and share events with friends Filter events by date, location, and type Access everything from one clean interface, mobile-optimized and easy to navigate
How we built it
Figma for design TypeScript with React for the frontend GitHub for version control Netlify for deployment
Challenges we ran into
As a high-school student, I had to juggle schoolwork with the hackathon timeline. Integrating TypeScript into the frontend and deploying a seamless Netlify build were completely new to me. There were UI bugs, and figuring out how to manage user-submitted event data was tricky without a backend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully functional, responsive frontend Designed a clean UI/UX layout that people actually liked Learned how to manage project timelines even during exam prep Created something people genuinely wanted to use
What we learned
TypeScript basics and how to manage type safety How to design components in Figma and translate them to code How to deploy a working project using Netlify The importance of minimalism in UI and keeping performance smooth
What's next for Aaayojan
Adding login and RSVP features with Firebase Enabling Google Maps-based event filtering Partnering with student clubs to list verified events Launching in my school and nearby colleges to get real feedback
