In our daily lives, we often struggle to find quick, reliable local services. Many small and home-based businesses around us remain invisible online, especially in regions like ours, which inspired us to solve this gap.
What it does
AasPaas is an AI-powered hyperlocal platform that helps users discover nearby small businesses or simply post their needs. Instead of searching endlessly, users can describe what they want, and relevant local vendors respond directly. It makes finding quick, local solutions easier while giving small businesses real-time opportunities.
How we built it
We built AasPaas as a full-stack web app using a simple and scalable setup. The frontend was developed using React, while Firebase handled authentication and database management. We deployed the application on Vercel for fast and reliable access. Gemini AI played a key role in making the platform intelligent. It processes natural language queries from users, extracts intent like category, budget, and urgency, and converts them into structured data. This allows the app to deliver more accurate results and match user requests with relevant nearby businesses. Gemini also helps in refining user inputs and generating meaningful descriptions, making the overall experience smarter and more user-friendly
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges in integrating multiple technologies like frontend, backend, and AI into a seamless experience within a limited timeframe. Ensuring accurate interpretation of natural language queries using Gemini AI and designing a simple, intuitive UI were key challenges. Additionally, optimizing the platform to work efficiently for hyperlocal use cases while keeping it scalable required careful planning and iteration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built and deployed a fully functional AI-powered web application within a short hackathon timeframe. Integrating Gemini AI to understand natural language and creating a unique request-based system for connecting users with local businesses were key achievements. We’re especially proud of turning a real-world problem into a working, scalable solution with a clean and user-friendly experience.
