Inspired
We wanted something that could help students like us study smarter, and more effectively. Many of us have trouble focusing, concentrating or just to start studying at all. This website helps us concentrate more and breaks our terrible habit of procrastination.
What it does
It uses a Pomodoro timer, and makes students study in 25 minute intervals with 5 minute breaks in between.
How we built it
We built it using CSS, HTML, JS, and python. We used Visual studio code as our editor, and wrote the code there. We used many open source tutorials in order to make our code, we modified it for our needs and incorporated our game.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges, such as the timer not working, the page not automatically redirecting to the break period and many others.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our main accomplishment we are proud of is our website. We spent a lot of time on it, and faced many adversities while we were creating this program.
What we learned
For all of us, this was our first hackathon. We learned a lot about how it works. During the hackathon, we also learned how to incorporate many different coding languages together to create our project. We also learned a lot during workshops that were presented to us in the hackathon. One example was the JavaFX workshop, which is a GUI for Java. We believe it was very valuable for there to be workshops in the hackathon, since we were able to learn a lot about coding languages and their applications. It also helped beginners, such as ourselves, to experience all of the sides there are to computer programming.
What's next for AA Smart Study
We plan on using Heroku to deploy our website to all of the other students like us who need to study smarter and more effectively, by using Smart Study!
