Inspiration

Our current world is run by the internet. No access doesn't simply limit entertainment, but also education and work opportunities. Within Baltimore city there is a shocking gap that exists between people with and without access to in-home wifi. Our goal with this project is to better understand this gap.

What it does

This fun, interactive, choose your own adventure story, allows users to learn about the reasons behind, the costs, and the possible solutions to Baltimore's internet access gap.

How we built it

We used Python and Cursor in Marimo notebook. We used GrokBot to ideate and generate voices for our characters. All art and animations were hand-drawn using Pixquare and Procreate. Datasets were from https://data.baltimorecity.gov/ and CelesTrak.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, it was a challenge to learn how to use Marimo, especially because variables could not be defined twice. However, we quickly came to appreciate the efficiency and reactive nature of the notebook. Another challenge we ran into, was ensuring all components, including sound, art, data, and widgets were connected into a seamless experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud not only to present the data, but also to offer an interactive and enjoyable experience through our project.

What we learned

We learned how to use Marimo notebook. We gained experience combining storyboarding and data visualization.
