Inspiration

While discussing together, we are fascinated by the idea of integrating a 3D globe on a website with a safety focus.

What it does

A website with a 3D Globe model and 10 dots on it representing 10 biggest man-made disasters in history. We could have done more but we are basically out of time

How we built it

We used planetary.js as the framework for this since it's based on javascript and allows us to easily access the 3D globe model and works with it through html, css and javascript. Then we manipulated the globe through plugins to make pings on the globe as the 10 events mentioned above.

Challenges we ran into

It is the first time we have had to finish an important project in a really short time (1 day). That's why we ran into some difficulties throughout the process, from brainstorming, choosing the technology, getting through the errors, etc... Last but not least, since all of us are beginners, therefore we were not well-experienced to handle all the stuff in a short time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although the project is not as good as we wanted, we are proud of ourselves. At least, we have tried our bests to do as much as we could. Thanks to this event, we have more real-practical experiences. We believe that they will be extremely helpful for us in the future. Also, we have more friends who share the same passion for programming.

What we learned

We feel that the most thing we have learned from this project is the team-working skills. Working as a team is not easy. Actually, it needs much more than that. We need to collaborate well to do things. Although during the process, we had some issues, then eventually we went through them. For the programming skill, we also had a great chance to learn a lot of new technologies, especially the process to build a website.

What's next for a website

It will be a fully functional website after this to expand its reach to everyone.
