Inspiration
- 3D printing technology available at school made us realize how accessible 3D printing is.
- Customizable handmade ceramic tools gave us the idea to make rounded handles with varying thickness.
- Custom haircare products like Function of Beauty inspired our format and UI.
Challenges
- Finding time to meet before the deadline.
- Deciding how much energy to focus on the backend, the idea, and the website itself.
How we built our project
- Using Figma and Canva!
What we learned
- Financial impact is heavily dependent on what assumptions we make in our calculations and can vary greatly.
- A lot of people have accessibility difficulties but are underserved in the current makeup/beauty industry.
- There are not a lot of beauty companies leveraging the newest advancements in technology, like AI or 3D printing.
- How to calculate unit economics!
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
- Learning interesting technological research on 3D printing and scanning.
- Created a somewhat functional wireframe and website on Figma.
- Put design and marketing skills to use!
What’s next for A Touch of Accessibility?
- Creating a more functional website for this project that includes mockups for the survey, scan, and selection.
- Practicing our ideathon and hackathon skills by attending other projects!
