A tale of two mountains….
Since so many companies are buying up others or merging with others, they always face the challenge of merging applications and different technologies to meet their needs. In this case, we have two separate ski resorts;
Summit Mountain - “Basic mountain” Offering ski lessons, multi-day lift tickets, and equipment rentals. Mountain Information can be seen on Summit mountain website including webcams and snow report.
Tri Peaks – “Upscale mountain resort” offering equipment rentals, online multi-day lift tickets, booking, online menus for the mountain restaurants. They also offer cabin and other accommodations and rentals delivered to their accommodation. All accessible via their mobile app and website.
Tri-Peaks bought Summit Mountain to form The Summit Group to offer a one-stop-shop for a wide range of skiing experiences. The best of the best in the Rockies.
Business Challenge:- Currently both ski resorts use a proprietary OpenEdge application and need to seamlessly integrate both applications. Management wants to be able to calculate the economies of scale through one source of truth using Tableau to SQL Server database (we will use Pro2 to achieve this) .“One source/One view” to have a seamless view to manage hardware/software/ infrastructure using WUG/New Relic.
What it does: Both apps will continue to run independently until they can rebuild and upgrade, as they are on different versions of OE. 10.0 and 11.7. Pro2 will move the data to a single SQL database that Tableau pulls BI from. WUG monitors all of its systems. And with a new mobile UI that supports both mountains. If time... implement self-serv NativeChat for answering basic questions - Hours of service, other questions, etc...
How I built it – Using OE PAS and DB, Web UI (KUIB), Sql Server, Pro2, Tableau, NativeScript, WUG, New Relic.
Built With
- nativescript
- oe
- pro2
