Inspiration

We took insiration from our own lives, as students. while studying or while decoding a complication, we have always felt that connecting with our batchmates or people from that pool has always been easy than connecting with an educator.

What it does

  • Our project is a web-based application aimed at helping students and the community in a fun way. The app serves as a platform for students to connect to random students all around the world in live time for discussing their academic problems. Students can also get professional help from our platform via counselling services for free for their problems.
  • This way, the app not only creates new relationships between students but also increases the connectivity in the global education community.
  • Users can create accounts, join study groups and connect to random students all around the world. In study groups, you can talk to these people about your problems and also helps others . Users can also get professional help for their problems if they wants. In the end, our webApp brings humanity closer.

How we built it

  • We used Figma to create a simple wireframe of the website.
  • We built our website using the “FERN” Stack.
  • We collaborated via GitHub.

Challenges we ran into

  • As 3-4 members of our team are beginners and none of us had a lot of experience with React, node and firebase, taking up this project was pretty challenging.
  • One of the biggest challenges was collaborating on one project along with four people. However, we were able to divide up tasks. We hung out on Google Meet to talk about any problems we ran into and shared our thoughts and random ideas as well.
  • We ran into several issues while coding and pushing code to repositories, which we solved which each others' as well as mentors' help.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to develop a full-stack app with most of the functionality we had planned on achieving and had the greatest fun while trying to come up with solutions to the issues we ran into!

What we learned

  • As none of the team members had much knowledge of React, firebase and Javascript, we learnt quite a lot about these technologies by jumping right into building something like “A Stranger’s Advice.
  • We also learned about the importance of time-management,other people’s idea and collaboration since we're from different places and the hackathon was virtual.
