Inspiration

We at Bodacious Games were inspired by farming sims, so this project takes the genre and instead focuses on playing the role of a shopkeeper. Particularly one in the world of RPG heroes, all looking for materials! We thought it be fun to take on the role of the shopkeeper as he tries to obtain the materials his customers need!

What it does

The game contains a bodacious short story with a beginning and end! Starting with the shopkeeper laying out his dreams of a home with a beachside view and him finally getting that if you complete the game. The game contains a shop with customers asking for different goods and a map with multiple different minigames to play to obtain said goods. Each item collecting minigame is different and take different amounts of stamina. You can only do so much in one day and once you run out of stamina you'll need to sleep for the day and continue your work the next morning!

How we built it

Utilizing Godot 4.2, GDscript, assets from Itch.io, and audio from Pixabay.

Challenges we ran into

Containing Scope was a large challenge but we believe we got it to a level that we are incredibly proud of.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a full game with a start and end, a clean presentation, story text, mini games, and a satisfying gameplay loop.

What we learned

We learned not to give up when facing challenges early on, as those challenges can often shape the project into something better.

What's next for A Shopkeeper's Dream

If we continue to update the game, we'll add more items and minigames!
