Inspiration
A lot of us college students struggle with mental health issues, but haven't seen a centralized space to document and search for resources. As an example of what DailyFi improves, instead of students writing their journal entries in a Notes App and Google Doc, they will now have a mental health hub to jot them down, record them, and analyze them over time.
What it does
DailyFi is a mental health resource hub. It hosts a dashboard with a habit tracker, journaling space, and recommended song of the day, a chatbot that learns and advises the user's mental health journey, and habit and journal logs and reports.
How we built it
We built this platform on top of the Streamlit framework. For the chatbot and analytics, we used OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and Hume's FaceConfig model.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges that we faced was working with new technologies. For a lot of us, it was our first hackathon, so we spent a lot of energy navigating different frameworks and APIs for our website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a website that is interactive and implements a lot of groundbreaking technologies in AI. Our use of Hume AI to improve things from chatbots to Spotify recommendations was really amazing to create. The AI really gets to know and understand the emotions and voice of the user, which works really well with our website.
What we learned
Throughout the process of creating our mental health platform, DailyFi, we grew as a team both technically and in terms of leadership and collaboration skills. Being all of our first hackathons, we were all a little bit intimidated going into this event. However, over the past couple of days we spent time developing our dashboard from scratch and learned how to use different cutting edge AI technologies such as Hume and OpenAi. While we were familiar with some technologies initially, we greatly expanded our knowledge especially when it came to working on front-end tasks. We also felt that we learned a lot in terms of experiencing the process of building out an entire codebase and having to brainstorm together and work as a team. We found that we were the most productive when we collaborated and helped each other debug each other’s problems. It was also an amazing opportunity to take charge of different aspects of our product and have a sense of ownership over different features.
What's next for DailyFi
In the future, we hope to be able to create a more more user-friendly dashboard with widgets or cards that allow the user to do everything they need on one page. In addition, creating more options for users to use the website, whether by creating a mobile app or adding more features like voice memos could be some viable next steps for DailyFi.
