Inspiration

This project explores how psychedelics, creativity, and emerging technology intersect across human history. It traces the evolution of artistic expression — from early cave rituals to digital AI-generated visions — as a journey shaped by altered states and mythic imagination. Psychedelics are framed not as escapism, but as catalysts that have historically expanded perception and influenced the very forms through which we create, share, and reflect meaning.

How It Was Built

Visuals were generated using MidJourney v7 and v6, developed across a series of evolving prompt structures. Each scene was approached as a chapter in a larger visual arc — moving from ancient origins to futuristic abstraction — while maintaining a consistent aesthetic language rooted in psychedelic geometry and organic forms.

The animations were created in Kling, combining moments of stillness with flowing camera paths, dynamic transitions, and layered effects. Some scenes evolve slowly to support a contemplative rhythm, while others pulse with energy and visual complexity to reflect the intensity of psychedelic experience. Motion was crafted to follow the flow of the music — allowing the visuals to breathe, build, and dissolve in sync with the sound.

Music and voice were created in Suno, based on original spoken word written for the piece. The soundscape blends ambient textures and melodic fragments to guide the viewer through each stage of the visual journey. Editing and refinement were done in CapCut, where scenes were arranged to follow the flow of the story and the rhythm of the music. The pacing and sequencing were guided by the script’s narrative arc — from the origins of early humanity to the present — allowing the visuals, sound, and voice to move as one cohesive experience.

Challenges

The challenge was to maintain symbolic and emotional cohesion across disparate AI-generated scenes. I solved this by aligning the visuals closely with the lyrics and narrative, letting the story guide each image and transition.

In MidJourney, I used style references from previous outputs and occasionally image-to-image prompting to maintain visual continuity. In Kling, I mostly worked with start and end frame generations to animate specific moments, then stitched together short clips in CapCut. I adjusted speed, added camera movements, and layered effects to ensure the video flowed smoothly with the music and narration.

What I Learned

Psychedelics and AI both expand perception. When directed intentionally, AI tools become creative allies — not just engines of output, but instruments for revealing the inner landscape. This project deepened my understanding of how altered states, ancient memory, and emerging technology can come together to tell timeless human stories in new ways.
