Inspiration
Imagine you're on campus, trying to find a safe space or a gender-neutral restroom, but there's no easy way to navigate—especially for gender minorities. That frustration is what inspired us to create "A Place To Go." We believe that every person on campus deserves to feel included and supported—to make sure no one feels left out. View our inspiration in detail through our presentation slides.
What it does
A Place To Go simplifies the process of navigating campus by providing tailored support for gender minorities, offering easy access to gender-neutral restrooms and other safe spaces (resource centers, lactation rooms, low-sensory rooms, etc). It offers easy accessibility and a sense of community through user feedback and support.
How we built it
We conceptualized the idea and scoped the problem, identifying the unique challenges faced by gender minorities on campus. From there, we translated our vision into a prototype by developing the application on Figma, converting real-life scenarios into user journeys to ensure a seamless and intuitive experience for our users.

Challenges we ran into
Given the 24-hour time frame, we needed to focus on prioritization for MVP, which required careful consideration of features and functionalities. In addition to problem-solving for seamless map integration and navigation, finding the right design resources to match our theme posed another challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have successfully completed the MVP and achieved our goals for the hackathon prototype within the given time frame, despite the challenges we faced. Additionally, creating a visually appealing and user-friendly UI/UX design was a significant accomplishment, enhancing the overall experience for our users.
What we learned
Through this experience, we've understood importance of inclusivity and accessibility from a technological standpoint. We've learned prioritizing user experience, leveraging Figma for effective design prototyping, and integrating seamless navigation tools.
What's next for A Place To Go
Moving forward, our focus is on scaling A Place To Go to an institutional level, making it accessible to colleges and universities across the country. We aim to collaborate with academic institutions to implement our solution campus-wide, promoting inclusivity and accessibility on a broader scale. Additionally, we are committed to staying updating with upcoming AR technologies in navigation, ensuring that A Place To Go remains at the forefront of innovation in campus inclusivity and accessibility.
