Inspiration

As someone grows up, they see the struggle of their family and how they tackle everything as a team. This is what this book is all about. In this scary situation, the support from each other in a family can actually be very powerful in dealing with it.

What it does

Its a story about how a mom gets quarantined and has to stay away from her family for 14 days and how her family figures out how they will go about facing it.

How I built it

Contacted a couple of writer friends who helped me write and correct it. Illustrated the whole thing myself. Still correcting any errors I find.

Challenges I ran into

time. I found out about this hackathon too late so I had to make it in a hurry.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I managed to finish a version of it that has the heart of the story in it. I have dedicated it to those fighting in the front lines. My cousin is a nurse and the stories I hear about the situation are terrifying. I hope this contributes to them.

What I learned

Things really fall apart when capable people don't work. That's something I see in the world today. I learned that its not very hard to get something done and contribute as long as your heart is in it.

What's next for A new virus in town

I am going to correct it and publish it. Hopefully parents will read it to kids so that they really understand the situation themselves and don't just blindly follow what everybody says. The last thing I want is a kid drinking bleach or lysol to protect himself/herself.
