A-Meal-For-All
Inspiration
Inspired by the stark contrast between food wastage at events and the hunger faced by millions, we aimed to create a platform that bridges this gap by facilitating the donation of surplus food to those in need.
What It Does
A-Meal-For-All is a web application that connects individuals and organizations with surplus food to NGOs and communities in need, ensuring that no meal goes to waste.
How We Built It
- Frontend: Developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a user-friendly interface.
- Backend: Implemented with Node.js and Express to handle requests and manage data.
- Database: Utilized MongoDB for storing user and donation information.
- Hosting: Deployed on Netlify for seamless integration and scalability.
Challenges We Ran Into
- User Authentication: Ensuring secure and efficient user login and registration processes.
- Real-Time Updates: Implementing real-time notifications for new donations and requests.
- Data Management: Handling large volumes of data efficiently and securely.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
- Successful Deployment: The application is live and accessible to users globally.
- User Engagement: Received positive feedback from early users and NGOs.
- Community Impact: Facilitated multiple successful food donations, contributing to the reduction of food waste.
What We Learned
- Full-Stack Development: Gained hands-on experience in both frontend and backend development.
