Inspiration

The mountain theme, The Oregon Trail game, and the text-based game A Dark Room

What it does

It simulates a stat-management game with a dynamic day and night cycle, background music, and a scrolling background of trees.

How we built it

Github copilot was very helpful. I animated the player sprite myself. The basic elements were designed by me and then refined by Github copilot.

Challenges we ran into

Animating the player was much harder than expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I animated my first-ever sprite. I also designed a functioning scrolling backdrop system.

What we learned

Creating visuals with geometric shapes is HARD.

What's next for A Long Hike

Hopefully refining the gameplay some more, after spending so long on visuals.
