What Inspired Me
I made this piece because I’ve been observing Spike, the founder of Wayfinders, and the way he moves in the Web3 gaming space. He builds quietly but intentionally, and his presence has a real impact on people.
Even though I discovered his birthday 9 days late, I still felt compelled to create something meaningful, not just a greeting, but a tribute to the leadership, community and culture he has been building.
It wasn’t about timing. It was about respect.
What I Learned:
I learned that community-driven storytelling hits different. People connect more deeply when a story:
Feels personal
Honors someone’s journey
Shows why they matter
I also learned that a tribute is not just a message, it’s context, emotion, and pacing woven together.
How I Built It:
I started with the voiceover script, shaping it to:
Build tension at the beginning
Climb into momentum and elevation in the middle
Then resolve softly at the end
Then I:
Collected footage of Spike (streams, photos, community moments)
Generated cinematic animated scenes to match emotional beats
Synced everything to a musical arc with rising and falling intensity
Mixed transitions and pacing to ensure every frame felt intentional
Challenges I Faced
Time: The video was created after the birthday, so the story had to feel purposeful, not “late”.
Emotion vs. Representation: I needed to celebrate Spike without exaggeration, it had to feel real.
Visual Consistency: Combining real footage and animated scenes required careful color grading and rhythm so the story felt seamless.
