Inspiration ✈️ "We're exchange students who arrived in Melbourne and immediately felt overwhelmed. Between classes and exploring, we wasted hours searching "best coffee in Melbourne" and comparing tram routes. That's when we realized: if we struggle with this as digital natives, imagine how professionals feel. That pain point became our mission."

What it does 🗺️ "A.I.tinerary is your AI travel concierge:

  1. Tell us your trip details (destination, dates, interests)
  2. Get a personalized, bookable itinerary in seconds
  3. Adjust with natural language ("swap museums for beaches") Bonus: Auto-blocks work calendar during your trips!"

Challenges we ran into 😅

  1. The "Melbourne Problem": Our AI kept recommending the same 5 CBD cafes
    • Fix: Scraped hidden gem blogs to expand our dataset
  2. Budget Reality Check: First versions suggested $500/night hotels to backpackers
    • Fix: Added tiered budget filters (Shoestring → Luxury)

Accomplishments we're proud of 🏆

  • Built an end-to-end prototype in 48 hours
  • Nailed the "aha moment": When judges said "I'd use this tomorrow"
  • Got our AI to understand niche requests like "gluten-free food near ACMI"

What we learned 📚

  • Travel planning is surprisingly emotional - people want to feel understood
  • The best AI doesn't replace humans - it augments their decisions
  • Always account for timezone math (seriously, it's the worst)
