Inspiration
I was inspired to create this for I first attended my first CTF as a high schooler online at Cyber.org. Even though my team didn't get the most points, it was really fun and I found this challenge to reinforce my knowledge as a high schooler and it was as fun making it as creating it.
What it does
The user will solve 8 fun problems, related to decryption and malware with 100 points each! It is a fun way for high schoolers to learn about different (and funny) encryption methods as well learning about different types of important malware .
How we built it
I built this using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges I ran into was that I didn't really know much of the challenges normal college CTF's usually present. I am pretty new to cybersecurity so I was pretty unfamiliar with a lot of stuff. I decided to just include fun problems I knew how to solve. In addition, I struggled with JavaScript since it's been a while.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of how my website looks (although it is not the most pretty) and the riddles I created. It was a lot of fun and I also learned quite a lot.
What we learned
I learned a lot more about malware as well as more funny encryption methods (like Duckspeak). Overall, it was really fun.
What's next for A Fun And Friendly CTF - For & By High Schoolers
Next, if I have the time, I could add more fun challenges and even more harder problems as I learn more about different problems. 8 problems is also not a lot so more is definitely needed.
