Inspiration
When I was brainstorming ideas for this game, I asked myself the following question: What is something that everyone likes? I found two answer:
- Happiness
- Power What can possibly make you happier than seeing a cute fluffy squirrel? But happiness on its own isn't enough, we need a sense of control. Taking over the world makes you feel powerful and in control. However, we cannot do that in real life. This game allows you to experience something similar. The next question I asked myself was: How do I combine a fluffy squirrel, taking over the world, and winter survival? In this game, the player becomes a squirrel who needs to survive in the winter. They can dig up acorns in a field and battle other squirrels for territory. The twist is that the player can use the acorns to open acorn stands. Over time, the acorn stands give the player power, which can be used to take over the world, one continent at a time.
How we built it
I built it using processing.
What we learned
A-corny Sense of Power is the longest game I have created on Processing. It has given me the opportunity to practice multiple things. I especially improved in taking keyboard and mouse input and I learned more about how to use if statements.
