Inspiration
"I may not be there but I still care." is what _ A Bit of Love _, the Valentine's Day delivery robot is inspired by. Wanting a way to send love ones a gift without being physically there, _ A Bit of love _, (a play on the digital "bits") puts a spin on traditional Valentine's Day gift giving.
What it does
This robot is intended to move until it detects a person, waits for a button to be pressed, lifts up a gift, and plays music when the gift is received. It also has a website that plans out a Valentine's Day schedule for the recipient.
How we built it
We used an Arduino Uno for the main functions of our robot, DC motor, wheels, and Arduino motor driver to make it move forward, an ultrasonic distance sensor to detect the loved one, two small servos to create a moving arm with a joint, a push button to lift the gift up, a force sensor to sense if the gift has been taken and a speaker to play music once the gift is taken. We used Python to create the website.
Challenges we ran into
As we worked on the car motor, the arm movement, and sound separately, one challenge we ran into was integrating all of these separate components into one robot. Another challenge we ran into were the motor wires being disconnected, fixed using solder.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Accomplishments that we're proud of include wiring multiple different hardware components and making each subsystem work.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the power of Arduino and how to connect various hardware, including motors and sensors.
What's next for A Bit of Love
The next steps include: learning how to integrate all subsystems together to have a fully functioning robot.
