Inspiration

After spending time outside walking to class, ham-mocking, and enjoying the sun, we realized how many bees come out during the summer. Noticing how fearful most people are about bees is what drove our idea to create a website surrounding how bees work, and how amazing they are.

What it does

A Bee-autiful Site is a website that explains the anatomy and behavior of bees, the benefits they provide for the environment, and how they benefit us.

How we built it

After looking at multiple databases and sites, we compiled relevant topic about bees that would help create a well rounded site. To collect the content of each page, we made a document to put our collective research in and categorize our ideas and their importance. After collecting data and information, we put it into VScode. Using HTML and CSS, we programmed and designed the format of our website.

Challenges we ran into

Although some of had previous HTML knowledge, we didn't have extensive knowledge. Learning how the code a website and how to navigate and organize HTML code was our biggest problem. Even though collecting the data was a lengthy process, the self teaching aspect of this experience was the biggest challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

All of us have good coding knowledge, but seeing the code come to life was something we took a lot of pride in. Knowing we didn't have much experience with HTML and CSS beforehand, being able to learn and code using it was very gratifying. After seeing the site slowly building into something that was presentable and unique in just a day, was amazing considering our previous knowledge.

What we learned

We learned the importance of code organization and more about HTML and CSS. I think we managed our time pretty well, especially since there were many times some of us couldn't be present, but we still managed to work together well. After hours of working on this project, I think the most important thing we learned was making sure our work was readable for everyone else to edit and add to.
