Inspiration
I am from Washington State and a problem that we have in this area during the summer is wildfires. Just last year alone, 107,118 acres of land were scorched by wildfires. Additionally, the wildfires cause lots of smoke to go in the air which decreases the air quality. The smoke makes it hard to go outside and it’s especially bad with people have health conditions such as asthma. The number of wildfires in Washington has been increasing in recent years and this is due to climate change.
What it does
I have developed a game to teach young children how they can stop climate change. This is so the next generation can do more to slow down and stop climate change.
How we built it
I built my game using the Unity game engine. My code is written in C#. I created the music in this game by using an online music editing software called Bandlab.
Challenges we ran into
Creating this game in such a short time frame was a challenge. Also, there were plenty of times where I had to debug my code since lots of features weren't working in my game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I was able to create such a nice game in such a small time frame. I am also proud of the fact that at the end, everything worked perfectly.
What we learned
I learned that making a game takes time and that it's easier to create a game if you plan out things before executing the task at hand. I also learned how to debug my code more efficiently.
What's next for CLIMATE SAVER
I want to add more missions in my game and I want to focus on creating better UI. I also want to focus on making the game more interactive rather than just listing facts on how people can stop climate change.
