Lingo Hajj

Abstract Every year, people come from different countries around the world to perform pilgrims (Hajj) in Makkah. Some people do not know Arabic or English to communicate and the only language they know is their first language. Lingo Hajj is an idea to create a phone application that helps people from different countries who speak different languages to communicate easily and perform Hajj without having difficulties. The App is going to provide the user with different options either to type or talk when needs arose. Also, the App is going to help people find important places such as hospitals, restaurants and shopping malls. The App is not just to communicate when they have problems, but also explore the area for different purposes.

Introduction Lingo Hajj is an idea of a phone application that is going to be used in Makkah to help people from different countries with different spoken and written languages to communicate easily and effectively. This application is going to have different features which help people with multiple needs at a time. If a person is not sure what the next step is to do, then he/she can type or say the question using the App, and the answer will be provided automatically. Moreover, there will be a private social media channel to connect people who speak the same language. The App is going to have multiple features and will be explained in the prototype.

The Goal: Is to make the Hajj experience easy, safe and enjoyable.

Problem and solution The problem is the language barrier between people during the Hajj season.

Competitive Advantage Our solution is going to solve multiple problems at the same time (communication) using an easy application that supports multiple languages. The application will be effective not just during the Hajj season, but the entire year.

Segment Our segment is foreign people who have difficulties communicating with others whom do not speak their mother language when they have an emergency or have a problem.

What is going to assure for us that the application is going to be used?

According to Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory which suggests that when a new technology is introduced to users, a number of factors impact their decision how and when they will use it. The main two factors which are: usefulness and ease of use. Our application is going to be useful and safe which will assure for us that the app is going to be used. Also, we are following the theory of E.M Rogers 1962 which is when promoting an innovation to target population, it is important to understand the characteristics of the target population to help the adoption of the innovation. We did a short research about our target population, and we understood their needs and we believe that our product is going to be successful because of the services are going to be provided.
