Inspiration
I made 9 Word Creation because many kids think writing is boring and they don't enjoy it, so I made 9 Word Creation which is a game that allows kids to form a creative story that includes 9 unrelated, but interesting words.
What it does
This game has four different types of clouds (fantasy, space, detective, and normal) which you have to bump with a ball to add words related to the type of cloud you bump. You can move the ball with your mouse and bump clouds of your choice. Bumping clouds makes you gain 5 points and going off the screen makes you loose 10 points. Once you have bumped 9 clouds (which means you collected 9 words), the words will be shown. You will be able to write a story on a simple text editor when you click "Write story!" and you can make your story as crazy and creative as you like. You get 20 points for every word you include and can check your current score and missing words when you press "Score". Once you are satisfied with your story, you can save it as a txt file by pressing "Save As..." and access later as well.
How we built it
I made this game with pygame and tkinter.
Challenges we ran into
It was hard to debug a couple of issues and sometimes nothing I tried would work while debugging. One example of this is I tried to make the clouds in the game move randomly from one side of the screen to another, but that wasn't working after around 4 hours so I just decided to make the clouds move a different way.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am actually very new to pygame and tkinter, but I still completed a fairly large project with almost 400 lines of code using those, though I had to look up a ton of things.
What we learned
I learned many things about how to make games with pygame and how to use tkinter to create GUIs.
What's next for 9 Word Creation
I'll just improve it with other ideas.
