Inspiration

Do you remember playing a game, clearing quests, getting hooked on leveling up, but putting off studying or everyday tasks? We had a lot of that experience ourselves, so we came up with this idea. Our concept was to take elements that engage users in games and apply them to a simple to-do list system. This allows you to actually get interested, rather than running through a mundane task list.

What it does

If you write down what you need to do in our system and actually do it, you can earn experience points, and achievements, and all of these will grow your character. Your character has many skills, and they can represent you in reality. Because as you are doing your job and the character grows, if you replace the character with yourselves, you are growing by doing your tasks. One of the biggest features is that you can see yourself growing through the character.

How we built it

We discussed how we should build the actual service, designs, and user experiences. We imagined being users and tried to find out what problems we had. We designed with Figma and developed with basic web technologies like HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

It was challenging but enjoyable to come up with ideas, plan, and think about what services to create, how to solve problems within this service, and how to give users a better experience. But the biggest issue we overlooked was that we didn't figure out the amount of work we could handle in time. We had many ideas and so many things we wanted to implement. But I think this was the most difficult hurdle because we didn't determine what we couldn't actually do in time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While we haven't actually completed the perfect service, we are proud of everything we have done as a team. It's been fun, and we're proud of all the efforts we've made to produce the maximum results within a limited timeframe with the capabilities we have. Especially, we think our design and ideas are really good.

What we learned

We learned it's important to have an accurate grasp of the amount of work we can actually do before we start producing the product from the planning stage.

What's next for 8N

Of course, it's about completing our service. We wanted to create more and richer features than we've ever implemented, and we believe it's actually possible.
