Inspiration
As a kid, I've always been dehydrated and was made fun of my ashy knees and elbows. It has been my mission to always be hydrated and feel confident when I leave the house which inspired me to make this project.
What it does
This projected is designed to remind the user to drink a fair amount of water through out the day. The app reminds the user 8 times, to make sure that the user at least drinks 8 cups of everyday. The user has 3 different timer options, which are 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours. This is the time between each reminder so if a user sets it to 1 hour, it will take 8 hours for every reminder to go through. It has a live tracking by the hour, minute, and second, as well as it grabs the user's current time. Finally, every reminder box turns green once it has been sent, the user will see all the reminder boxes green when every alarm has been sent.
How we built it
I built this web-app using HTML for the structure (to put the text, buttons, reminders), used CSS to style the app (colors, layout, visuals), and javascript for it to run and be interactive (starting the reminders, timer, changing indicators into green).
Challenges we ran into
I struggled into connecting the javascript and the html as I had it in a complete different folder and did not notice.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud as this is my first ever working project, It took me hours and I have learnt a lot throughout this journey.
What we learned
One thing I learned through out this project was how to set a live timer in javascript.
What's next for 8 cups a day, keep the doctor away.
8 cups a day, keeps the doctor away, is meant to be a fun idea to remind people to stay hydrated through out the day! It is very simple, yet essential, as in the last year alone, dehydration in the US was reported to be affecting 83.9% of individuals (MEDIA.MARKET.US) link.
